Mission Statement:

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Students, SPCS, is a union that will provide both national and local support for Poverty Club members regardless of the aid they presently receive. Since the SPCS will focus on the basic needs required for survival, any student who shows a need for food, clothing, or shelter, will be assisted.

The SPCS will also assist in the exploitation of student loan rates that keep graduates in Poverty Club when they should be in a position of financial security. On the premise that the interest rates for student loans are higher than necessary, the SPCS will fight to bring down interest rates from 5 to less than 1%.

Definition

Students lacking funds around the world have finally “come out of the closet.” The common thread tying all students enrolled in college, regardless of age, demographic, skin color or gender is their pocket book, or lack there of. Although Financial Aid, Student Loans and Grants can postpone educational institution costs, daily expenses are the larger concern. It is a frightening thought facing the debt of an education and quite frequently can lead people to depression. In attempts to prevent students from jumping off the cliff the SPCS has come together to unionize the poor kids.

The goal is to create a venue through which students can work together to provide for all of their needs. This would include having a sign-up sheet at the beginning of each semester where students offer their own skills in exhange for any assistance they may need during the semester. Once everyone who is willing to contribute has provided their own information, students can contact the SPCS headquarters 24 hours a day to recieve servies. The students will provide their university, services needed, and the SPCS will contact other students with the skills required, and the problem is solved.

All skills are useful, and if you believe that you do not have applicable skills, you can always contribute your time. There is always someone who needs help feeding their dog while they are out of town, providing notes for a class they missed, or assistance in a subject area that you excel in.
