Doug,
I hope all is well. I kind of mix your narritive up a bit. The theme is really clear: the story of a technological diffculty. I was familar to with the technical terms. It seems like you were righting to people who were familiar with radio technical issues. However, you did breifly define some of the terms you used.

This week it was wonderfully frustrating! Work has been quite a challenge. Although, I am not the station’s official engineer, I come awfully close the last couple of weeks in forfilling the duties of that particular job function.

The challenge started on September 1st. My radio station (I don’t know the station) encountered a programming issue that left us with a lot of head scratching, pushing of buttons and utterancances of obseine broadcast illegeal words. The challenge revolved around a change in our syndicator. For the past two seasons, we have carried NFL games sent to us by a syndicator called SportsUSA Radio. Since our station is run primarily by computer program for these syndicated shows, all we needed to do was to schedule the automated log used for pervious boardcasting and air the programs on air as before. Unfortanely, the programs we were airing such as “ the neil boortz show” and the NFL games of the week were not being read my our satellite. we discovered that the issue came down to simple programming. Our satellite receiver system being more than ten years old was using a program written in DOS format. The signals were being transmitted in what is called a “wave signal” format. To our DOS programmed system, which is pretty acient, it was a futuristic foreign language, not yet invented and therefore we had difficulty broadcasting our normal line up . The immediate solution until we can re-program the system or upgrade to a newer receiver is to run the games manually with someone on the board. I love the luggury of technology and all the wonderful life enhacements it provides but, I really dislike adapting to it very rapid changes. The change in synticator single brought me a whole lot of technolical stress and frustration.
